Moustaches - Bigodes

I've always had a soft spot for a moustache, not surprising really - look at my father in the background of this picture.

One of the great nights of my life was playing violin with the Bigodes Band - Moustache Band (below)- who played music by Nino Rota, the composer for all the Fellini films. The entire audience were wearing moustaches (the concert was part of a Portuguese theatre festival and a Belgium director had come with 200 spare moustaches, you know, as you do) and I too was presented with an honorary 'tache when I came on stage. I was a guest diva dressed with a peroxide wig. And I was pregnant. Memorable night that.

Was all another life away.

Today my brain was slow coming to an obvious solution... one of Ruben's advent cards was to wear a moustache for the day (drawn on)....wondering what cracker present was good for all ages, gender neutral, small.. lots of off-cuts of brown felt... Eureka ... a FALSE MOUSTACHE. I've really enjoyed cutting these out, and trying them on. Just got to sew on elastic. I will model when the light permits.

More fake moustaches here and you must see "The World Beard & Moustache Championships 2007" photos. This is character. This is "I don't give a toss what anyone thinks". This is a whole other world. Another life away.
You never know, when I am old, I may grow my bristles and join in the championships. My grandmother implies this is the path that lies ahead.
