Dithering and finishing

Please excuse the indulgence of photos but I'm very happy to have finally-completedly-finished this quilt. Totally-absolutedly. It's been loitering for months. Some take years labouring, others whip them off weekly whilst keeping down a full-time job and 4 children (how does she do it?), and I'm somewhere in between (minus 3 children).
I had thought on selling it but now I don't know. I'm pretty attached. Though I can't justify keeping it as my son has the original that inspired this, and neither I nor my family need it (just look at my mother's collection).
There's the investment of time and thought of which actual sewing is only a part. There's contemplating colour combinations and changing my mind (after a stupid amount of time choosing a backing fabric I washed, dried, ironed, and sewed up a backing only to discard it). Then there's the time spent un-sewing, not being an expert with a machine. My kitchen table is my ironing board, cutting place, sewing station, then back to kitchen table quick for dinner. Even photographying takes time, the light is thin in a winter ground floor flat, and despite (because) of a 3 year old's attempt at helping ("I am the quilt monster") I've waited a few days to get a shot.

It's been part of the fabric of my life for many months. Anyway, a decision must be made.

In the mean time here are some stripey quilts I've been admiring.

Oh another thing I've finished; smoking. I stopped for almost 5 years then lapsed 9 months ago. 5 days no cigarettes. 5 days of rigid jaw from chewing gum. No dithereing on this.

*An extra - Rosa's quilt is nearly nearly.

Que lindo, Alix! E muitos parabéns pelos quatro dias (eu re-deixei há 21 meses e ainda custa que se farta). Quanto a vender os quilts, estou contigo, ainda não consegui dar esse passo.

It's wonderful! I love the pattern and the fabrics - and the way you arranged the whole thing. I wish I could do one myself.
